About Short Story

Short story is a program wherein, "Teens write and write – trying out styles and techniques to find their voices as storytellers. The group’s stories are shared with the community through ample performance and publishing opportunities.

About VOLUME

VOLUME Youth Poetry Project is a program based out of the Neutral Zone where teens meet weekly to write, critique, and read their poetry with one another. In addition to writing and performing nationally recognized, award-winning poetry, VOLUME performs at local coffee shops, bookstores, and several large-scale community events. VOLUME also has a summer program, The VOLUME Summer Institute, with workshops lead by Red Beard authors Shira Eirlichman, Angel Nafis, and Molly Raynor (see more) .
"This nationally acclaimed workshop puts together teen's interested in developing skills as writers with nationally and locally recognized performance poets and prose writers in a relaxed and encouraging environment. Participants will have the opportunity to take part in daily workshops taught by talented, dedicated instructors in poetry and short fiction. This year’s guest instructors are Molly Raynor, Angel Nafis and Shira Erlichman. All experience levels welcome. Please bring a bag lunch. Light snacks will be provided." -Neutral Zone Website description In addition VOLUME members often are featured in local Slam poetry competitions including the annual slam competition which determines the poets who go to Brave New Voices, a nationwide slam poetry competition, to represent Ann Arbor. |
